AMD's Gaming Beast Hits 7.3GHz and I Can't Look Away

Okay so I saw this and had to share because holy cow. Some absolute madman in China just cranked AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D to 7,335 MHz. With liquid nitrogen. Because of course they did.

The overclocker goes by "Hero" and honestly, that's pretty fitting. They used a Colorful iGame X870E Vulcan motherboard for this stunt, which isn't a board you see every day in the US market. But here's what gets me - the 9800X3D is already the fastest gaming CPU you can buy right now in 2026. It doesn't need this kind of treatment. Stock speeds? Already bonkers fast. So why push it to 7.3GHz? Because someone could, that's why.

Now look, I've tested plenty of extreme cooling setups, and liquid nitrogen is basically the nuclear option. You're talking negative 196 degrees Celsius here. This isn't something you do for daily gaming - this is pure showing off. And I respect that. The previous record holders are probably crying into their thermal paste right now.

What really strikes me is the timing. AMD's 3D V-Cache chips used to be terrible overclockers. The older generations would basically laugh at you if you tried pushing them hard. But this new 9800X3D? Different story. The fact that it can even hit these speeds shows how far the tech has come. Still wouldn't recommend trying this at home unless you enjoy expensive paperweights.

For context, most of us are happy if we can squeeze an extra 200MHz out of our chips with a decent AIO cooler. This guy just hit more than double the stock boost clocks. Absolutely mental.
