Look, I've been tracking GPU prices for months now and honestly? Things are getting weird. You'd think with everyone and their dog buying GPUs for AI workloads, prices would be through the roof. But here's the thing - some cards are actually getting cheaper.
I spent the morning digging through prices on RTX 4060s, RX 7600s, and Arc A750s. The budget stuff is where the real action is. That RTX 4060? Down to $279 at some retailers. Not amazing, but better than the $329 it launched at. AMD's RX 7600 hit $249 last week - that's actually solid for 1080p gaming. And Intel's Arc cards? The A750 dropped to $199. For two hundred bucks! Sure, the drivers were rough at launch but they're way better now.
The high-end market though? Different story. RTX 4090s are still hovering around $1,800 when you can even find them. The 4080 Super sits at $999 which feels steep but at least it's available. AMD's 7900 XTX at $899 makes more sense to me - nearly as fast for gaming, way less money.
But wait, why are budget cards getting cheaper while premium stuff stays expensive? Simple. AI companies want the big guns - 4090s, datacenter cards, anything with tons of VRAM. They're not touching your gaming-focused 4060. So retailers need to move that inventory.
My advice? If you need a GPU for actual gaming, grab a mid-range card now. The RTX 4070 at $549 or RX 7800 XT at $499 are sweet spots. Just don't expect deals on anything AI folks want.
