Intel Actually Remembered Gamers Exist While AMD Chased AI Dreams
So I just got back from CES 2026 and wow, talk about role reversal. Intel came to play while AMD basically forgot regular people exist.

Okay so I saw this at CES and had to share because honestly? I'm still processing what just happened. AMD, the company that's been eating Intel's lunch in the consumer space for years, basically showed up and acted like we don't exist. Meanwhile Intel rolled in like they had something to prove.
Here's what struck me. AMD's entire presentation felt like they were pitching to server farms and data centers. AI this, machine learning that. Cool stuff if you're building the next ChatGPT, but what about those of us who just want a solid gaming rig or a laptop that doesn't sound like a jet engine? Radio silence. They had their Ryzen AI chips sure, but the whole vibe was "consumers? What consumers?"
Then Intel shows up with their Panther Lake chips and it's like watching someone who actually remembered why we call it the Consumer Electronics Show. They're talking frame rates, battery life, actual stuff that matters when you're shopping for your next laptop. They even had demos for robot makers, which okay, niche market but at least they're thinking beyond spreadsheets and server racks.
The irony here is wild. Intel spent years ignoring gamers and creators while AMD swooped in and stole the show. Now in 2026, AMD's so busy chasing AI dollars they forgot who got them there. Intel meanwhile is acting like the scrappy underdog, actually excited to show off chips that'll make your games run better.
Look, I get it. AI is where the money is right now. But somebody at AMD needs to remember that enthusiasts and gamers are the ones who spread the word, who convince their friends what to buy. Intel figured that out this year. Question is, will AMD remember before it's too late?
