The new Granite Rapids WS processors are basically Intel saying "hey, we haven't forgotten about you" to all the creative pros and engineers who've been eyeing AMD's Threadripper lineup. Intel claims these chips deliver 61% better multi-threaded performance than previous generations, which sounds great on paper. But here's what really caught my attention: support for up to 4TB of memory and 128 PCIe 5 lanes. That's the kind of bandwidth that makes video editors and 3D artists very, very happy.
Now let's talk real world here. Who actually needs 86 cores? If you're rendering complex scenes in Blender, running massive simulations, or doing serious AI development work, this is your playground. But for most of us? Total overkill. The pricing hasn't been announced yet, but I'm guessing these won't exactly be budget-friendly.
