Japan's PC shops stop taking orders until 2026. This is wild.

Okay so I saw this deal and had to share... except there's no deal. Actually, there's no PCs at all if you're trying to order a custom rig in Japan right now.

Multiple Japanese computer shops just threw up their hands and said forget it, we're not taking any more built-to-order desktop orders until 2026. Yeah, you read that right. Not next month. Not this summer. Twenty twenty six.

Here's what's happening. Memory prices are absolutely bonkers right now. I'm talking prices changing so fast that shops literally can't keep their quotes valid long enough to process an order. One shop owner told local media they'd quote a customer in the morning, and by afternoon the same components would cost 30% more. Or they'd just be gone entirely.

This isn't just about DDR5 being expensive anymore. We're seeing component shortages across the board, and Japan's getting hit particularly hard because they rely heavily on just-in-time inventory. When you combine volatile pricing with empty warehouses, the whole BTO model just breaks down.

What really gets me is this shows how fragile the whole PC supply chain still is. We keep hearing things are getting better, but clearly they're not.
