Keychron's wild new trackball keeps your hands on deck

Okay so I saw this deal and had to share... wait, no, this isn't a deal. But I did just see something at CES 2026 that made me do a double-take. Keychron, the company that basically owns the mechanical keyboard game right now, just showed off a trackball. Yeah, a trackball.

The Nape Pro is this low-profile thing that's supposed to live right next to your keyboard. And honestly? It might actually solve a problem I didn't know I had. See, I'm constantly jumping between my keyboard and mouse, and my shoulder's starting to complain about all that reaching. This thing sits close enough that you barely have to move your hand.

What caught my eye though is the programmable buttons. Keychron's letting you map these however you want, which means I could finally have dedicated shortcuts for all my browser tabs without memorizing another dozen keyboard combos. The low-profile design means it won't look ridiculous next to my already-chunky mechanical keyboard either.

Now here's what I'm wondering - is this actually ergonomic or just ergonomic-looking? Trackballs have this weird cult following among people with RSI issues, but I've never been able to get the hang of them. The Nape Pro's flatter design might change that. Plus, knowing Keychron, this thing will probably work with their VIA software, which means endless customization options.

No word on pricing yet, but if Keychron's track record holds, it'll probably undercut Logitech's premium trackballs while still feeling solid. I'm keeping an eye on this one.
