Lenovo Just Showed Me Laptops That Actually Transform

Okay so I saw these wild Lenovo concepts at CES 2026 and had to share. We're talking about laptops with screens that literally roll out and expand. Not some janky prototype either - these things actually work.

First up is the Legion Pro Rollable, and gaming laptop makers are finally thinking outside the box. You know how ultrawide monitors are amazing for gaming but impossible to travel with? Lenovo basically said "hold my beer" and made a gaming laptop that starts as a normal widescreen but rolls out to ultrawide when you need it. I'm picturing this thing going from 16:9 to 21:9 with the push of a button. That's genuinely useful for both productivity and gaming.

But here's where it gets weird. The ThinkPad Rollable XD takes a different approach. Instead of going wider, this one extends vertically. And when you close the laptop? That extra screen wraps around to the outside of the lid. So you've got a display on the back of your laptop showing notifications, maybe some quick info. It's like having a giant smartphone notification LED but actually useful.

Look, I've seen plenty of concept laptops that never make it to market. But rollable OLED tech is getting real - we've seen it in phones, and Lenovo's parent company has been working on this stuff for years. The big question is price.
