Lenovo's ThinkPads Get Intel Panther Lake and Linux Love

Okay so I saw this deal and had to share. Lenovo just dropped their 2026 ThinkPad and Yoga lineup at CES, and they're finally going all-in on Intel's Panther Lake Core Ultra processors. But here's what actually got my attention - they're shipping with both Windows AND Linux options right out of the gate.

I've been testing ThinkPads for years, and this Linux move? It's huge. Usually you're stuck wiping Windows and crossing your fingers that everything works. Now Lenovo's basically saying "pick your poison" and handling the driver headaches for you. The Panther Lake chips are supposed to be Intel's big efficiency play too. We're talking better battery life without sacrificing performance, at least that's what Intel claims. I'll believe it when I test one for a week straight.

What really matters though? Price. ThinkPads have always been expensive, but you're paying for that legendary keyboard and build quality that survives coffee spills and airport security bins. The Yoga line brings that same durability to the flip-and-fold crowd. No word yet on exact pricing, but I'm guessing these start north of $1,500 for the base configs.

Here's my take - if you need a laptop that just works, day in and day out, ThinkPads are still worth the premium. Adding proper Linux support makes them even more appealing for developers and IT folks who've been begging for this. Can't wait to get my hands on one and see if Panther Lake lives up to the hype.
