Linux users can finally run Photoshop 2025 without jumping through hoops

Okay so I saw this deal and had to share... except it's not a deal. It's even better. Some absolute legend named PhialsBasement just cracked the code on getting modern Photoshop versions to run smoothly on Linux.

For years, trying to run Adobe Creative Cloud apps on Linux was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The installers would crash, the apps would glitch out, and don't even get me started on the performance issues. I've personally wasted countless hours trying different Wine configurations just to get Photoshop CS6 working reliably. But this developer went and fixed the actual problems - patching Wine to handle all the HTML, JavaScript, and XML stuff that Adobe's installers throw around.

Here's what blows my mind: we're talking about Photoshop 2025 here. Not some ancient version from 2015. The current release that dropped a few months ago. PhialsBasement describes it running "butter smooth," which honestly sounds too good to be true until you remember this is the same community that got games like Cyberpunk running better on Linux than Windows.

This is huge for anyone stuck between needing Adobe's tools and wanting to use Linux. Sure, there's GIMP and Krita and all the open-source alternatives, but sometimes you just need the real thing for client work or compatibility. Now you don't have to dual-boot or keep a Windows machine around just for Creative Cloud.

The patches are already making their way through the Wine development process, so hopefully this'll be standard in future releases. Until then, if you're brave enough to compile Wine yourself with these fixes, you might finally be able to ditch that Windows partition.
