Nvidia's DLSS 4.5 just dropped and it's kinda wild
Okay so I saw this deal and had to share. Nvidia just showed off DLSS 4.5 with 6X frame generation at CES 2026. No new GPUs, but this might be better.

Okay so I saw this deal and had to share. Well, not exactly a deal, but Nvidia just dropped something pretty wild at CES 2026. No shiny new RTX 5090 or whatever we were expecting, but honestly? DLSS 4.5 with Multi Frame Generation 6X might actually be the bigger news here.
Here's what's got me excited. The new MFG 6X mode can supposedly crank out six interpolated frames between each real rendered frame. Six! That's nuts. Think about it - if you're getting 30 fps native, this tech could theoretically push that to over 200 fps. Now before you roll your eyes about fake frames, I've been using DLSS 3 on my RTX 4070 for months now, and the frame generation actually works pretty well in most games. Not perfect, but way better than I expected.
The 4.5 update also promises better image quality for the upscaled frames themselves. Nvidia's been pretty vague about the specifics (shocker), but they're claiming it dynamically adjusts quality based on what's happening on screen. Fast motion gets different treatment than static scenes. Smart stuff, if it actually works.
But here's my question - do we really need 6X frame generation? I mean, at some point you're playing a game that's mostly AI-generated frames. Where's the line? Still, for folks running older RTX cards who want to push high refresh monitors, this could be huge. Way cheaper than dropping two grand on a new GPU in 2026.
No word yet on which games will support this or when we'll actually get our hands on it. But knowing Nvidia, expect the big titles to jump on board pretty quick. Cyberpunk 2077 Enhanced Edition, here we come.
