Okay so I saw this deal and had to share. Seagate's 22TB Expansion external drive just dropped to $249.99, which is the lowest I've ever seen it. For context, that's about $11 per terabyte. Wild.
I've been testing external drives for years, and here's the thing - most people don't need 22TB. But if you're a digital hoarder like me, or you're backing up years of family photos and 4K videos, this is actually a steal. Think about it. A decent 8TB drive runs you about $120-150 these days. So for roughly double the price, you're getting almost triple the storage.
The Expansion line isn't fancy. No RGB lights, no rugged casing, just a basic black box that sits on your desk and holds everything. It's USB 3.0, so transfers are decent but not blazing fast - expect around 120-150MB/s in real use. That means backing up a full terabyte takes about 2-3 hours. Not ideal for daily use, but perfect for that set-it-and-forget-it archive drive.
