Good news on memory prices in Germany, but SSDs and hard drives keep climbing. Here's what I'm seeing in the market right now.

Okay so I saw this deal on some DDR5 and had to check if RAM prices were finally coming back to earth. Turns out they kind of are, at least in Germany. New pricing data shows memory kits have stabilized and some are even getting cheaper month over month. About time, honestly.

But here's the kicker - they're still over 300% more expensive than they were five months ago. I remember grabbing a 32GB kit for my test rig back in September 2025 for what now looks like pocket change. Wild how fast things changed. The good news is we're seeing actual price cuts instead of the constant climbing we've been dealing with.

Storage is a whole different story though. Both SSDs and HDDs are more expensive than ever in the US market. I've been tracking prices for a 2TB NVMe drive I want for my Steam library and it just keeps going up. Same deal with mechanical drives - even those boring 4TB HDDs for backup duty cost more now than they did last month.

What's weird is the disconnect between regions. German buyers are catching a break on RAM while we're getting hammered on everything storage-related here in the States. My guess? Supply chain stuff hitting different markets differently. Or maybe German retailers are just more competitive right now.

Bottom line - if you need RAM and can wait a bit, prices should keep dropping. But if you need storage, grab it now because these trends show no signs of reversing. I'm personally holding off on that NVMe upgrade but jumping on any decent RAM deals I spot.
