Samsung's Wild OLED Cassette Player Actually Works

So here's something I wasn't expecting to see at CES 2026. Samsung's display division apparently got bored making regular screens and decided to flex by turning OLED panels into... cassette tapes? And turntables? Yeah, I'm serious.
I got hands-on time with these prototypes today, and honestly, they're cooler than they have any right to be. The OLED Cassette is basically a fully functional display crammed into the exact shape of an old-school tape. When you slot it into their custom player (also covered in OLED panels because why not), the whole thing lights up with visualizers that react to whatever music you're streaming. Think of it as Spotify wrapped in pure nostalgia.
The turntable is even weirder. The entire platter is an OLED screen that displays album art while spinning. And get this - the tonearm has a tiny OLED strip showing track info. Is it practical? Not really. But watching vinyl-style animations spin under an actual needle while playing digital music through a $3,000 concept device? That's the kind of ridiculous I can appreciate.
Look, nobody needs these. Samsung knows that. They're basically showing off what their flexible OLED tech can do when engineers have too much creative freedom. But after years of boring rectangular screens, I'm here for companies getting weird with displays. The cassette player hits shelves in Q3 2027 for what I'm guessing will be mortgage-payment money.
Samsung wouldn't give me exact pricing, but their rep smirked when I guessed $2,500 for the cassette setup. So yeah, start saving now if you want to be the coolest person at your next dinner party.
