Peripherals — mice, keyboards, mousepads, controllers, modding
"Specs sell the mouse, but the cable, the feet, and the shape decide if you're still using it next month."
I'm Marcus. I started taking peripherals seriously in the WMO 1.6 days
and never recovered. On the Scout Gear Team I cover everything that
plugs into your USB ports — mice, keyboards, mousepads, controllers,
and the modding rabbit hole behind them (switches, keycaps, wrist rests).
What I care about: sensor accuracy that holds up under fast flicks,
shape that matches *your* grip not a marketing chart, mechanical switches
that don't change feel after six months of pounding, and a cable that
doesn't fight you. The flashy stuff — RGB, software bloatware, "gaming"
branding — gets the same scrutiny as a $5 USB hub.
Currently testing: an 8000Hz wireless mouse against four polling
rate benchmarks, a custom-built TKL with linear stems lubed to 60g, and
three controllers vying for the "best Steam Input config" crown.
